I love chalkboards and I have several throughout our home that I have made.
I really wanted one in my dining area, but I wanted it to be more permanent.
I tossed the idea around for sometime of painting the actual chalkboard paint right onto the wall, but really struggled
with making that commitment. It’s one thing to hang a chalkboard but it’s another to paint it on the wall….
So one day, I took the plunge…and here’s a few pics of the process.
First I taped off the area that I wanted to paint the chalkboard in.
Next, I painted away….nervous the entire time!
After I painted the surface with 4 coats of black chalkboard paint,
it was time to “season” the board.
Lastly, I took a damp paper towel and wiped the chalk residue off!
It was black and shiny again.
My next step was to write something coffee house-ish on it.
I googled various sayings and chose from several to make mine unique.
So using chalk markers….which are amazing to write with..
I officiated my chalkboard!
I am so thrilled with the way it turned out!
I still can’t decide if I want to put wood trim around it or just leave it the way it is.
Either way…I’m satisfied!
Thanks for stopping by…hop on over to Elizabeth and Co. for more ideas!
have a blessed day!
