Hello Monday and hello beautiful friends!
I don’t know about you, but weekends are my fav. I sure do love me some chill time with my boys and play time out in the garage. This weekend, we not only played in the garage making beautiful signs for our weekly DIY parties, but I got a Valentines tree decorated. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know by now that I love any excuse to decorate. Now I know most people don’t think of Valentines Day as a major holiday and it doesn’t warrant a Federal day off, but in my world it’s a major holiday.
Growing up my mom always gave us girls gifts for just about every major holiday. At Valentines she usually gave us a stuffed animal, candy and something small like a bracelet. Easter? Well now that required a big ‘O basket that she would fill to overflowing. From there we had to wait until Birthdays and Christmas. I have continued that little tradition on with our children over the years, but including days like; back to school, Halloween, and Thanksgiving! I love gifts, it’s one of my main love languages.
So there ya have it….the reason I decorate for just about every season is simply my love of gift giving and creating an exciting and inspiring environment. I love our home to feel cozy, peaceful and inviting, so to me decorating for the seasons is one of those factors to making that happen.
To decorate this tree for Valentines, I headed over to the Hobby Lobby for some inspiration and of course some “stuff” to use. I really think I was in that store for over an hour. I started off in the Valentines section and the only thing that jumped out at me were the pink boas. I grabbed 4 and started my trek throughout the store. After 1 loop around I still was no more inspired than when I walked in. So back to the Valentine aisle I went. I put the pink boas back and grabbed 4 red boas and a wooden heart sign, and just knew that was the beginning. Ummmm NO! Feeling uninspired and about to leave, I thought I’d try one last section. The wedding aisle!!!! YES! What says LOVE like weddings!!! And guess what this was the week for it to be 50% off. SCORE, Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!!
So apparently grey is no longer “IN” for weddings, therefore everything grey had a yellow sticker on it, which was far better than the 50% off. Since we are transitioning the colors of our home to more grey & tan, I figured the grey would be a great base and then I could add pops of pink or red. Soooooooo over $200 later, I’d say I was not only inspired, but I was armed and ready to tackle this tree decorating.
I did a live Facebook video, unpacking and sharing all the goodies I scored that day and you can watch that video below, but here’s some pics of the items that I snagged!
I love the floral balls, and picks as well as the ribbon!
I started with some pink deco mesh then filled in with silver/gold mesh. After that, I just just started adding all the goodies I picked up from the Hobby Lobby! I’ll go back in add either the pics or some pretty paper to the frames. I simply love using the frames as ornaments. The “heart” ornaments I have had for a few years.
Having a Valentines Day tree definitely gets ya in the mood for that special day. I’m not a fan of pink in general, but I think it’s a sweet pop of color.
Don’t forget to find something special to decorate for Valentines day. I’ll be back laster in the week to share a Pinterest inspired Valentine idea…super excited!
