It’s becoming the popular thing to take old doors and windows and create new uses for them.
I’m afraid I too have fallen prey to the door and window obsession.
When we replaced the windows and front door in our farmhouse in Ohio, I saved a few of the windows to use for projects. I wish now that I had saved them all! To find an old window now will cost ya around $20-25.00 each. They are in high demand these days.
The old door that was removed from the house is now a desk in our office. Read about it here!
As much as I love all the ways that windows are being used, I decided I wanted something different.
Something more than for pictures, or a plaque. I wanted something more functional.
It’s hanging in the center of our kitchen, with the island directly beneath.
I started with one of my windows, brushed nickel chain and hooks, that I found at the Walmarts, grapevine and a grape garland.
Next, I attached screw hooks on the topside of each corner.
I added the chain, then marked the stop on the ceiling so that it would hang directly over my island.
I love the way it turned out. I added a chicken and lantern to dress it up a bit.
Our ceilings are really tall, so this helps fill in that space.
Thanks for stopping by!
