Wanna build a snowman???? No? Ok, let’s make a wreath instead!!
I needed a July 4th wreath for my front door, and given the size of our front porch, it needed to be a good sized wreath.
The cost of a wreath the size that I wanted was too expensive, so I decided to make my own.
I have a stock pile of flowers and grapevine in our basement, so I went shopping there first.
Luckily for me, I had most all of the supplies I needed. What I didn’t have on hand, required a sweet little trip to Hobby Lobby.
To make it rather large, I took 3 different sizes of grapevine wreathes and layered them inside each other. Each of them were thin, so layering them
together made the base substantial.
Once I secured the grapevine and had a base, I began the process of layering. I began with this greenery bush.
I separated it then tucked it into the grapevine. Once all my stems were tucked into the wreath, I secured them with green floral wire.
Next, I finished layering, beginning with the red, blue, tan, then white. For a little pizzazz, I tucked 2 red feathers in as well.
I knew I wanted to incorporate the flag somehow, so I took an old piece of americana swag (that I tea stained earlier this week)
and wrapped it on the one side and pulled it across the center. I then tied it off on the right side, making a puff, and letting it drape down from there.
I think it turned out beautiful and was just what I was looking for!!!
