Hobby Lobby Clearance Makeover

If you’re fortunate enough to have a Hobby Lobby close by, then you’ll want to make sure you check out their 90% clearance aisle.  As if that store doesn’t already have the most amazing things, they boast the best clearance items and sales EVER!  Now, as you start your stroll down that infamous 90% off aisle, you’ll start to feel all giddy inside.  You can score big down that aisle, but a lot of the items that you’ll find are damaged in some way, they’re either chipped, missing pieces or broken completely.

Today, I want to share with you how you can take those damaged or broken items and still use them.

I can’t tell you how many items I have bought from the 90% aisle, given a little TLC to and now they are apart of our home decor.  On one of my recent trips to Hobby Lobby, I found this lamp.  I loved everything about it, including the price tag..$6.97…….

but it was completely broke in the middle!

Once I got it home I started to work on it..

First, it needed some glue.  Once I fixed that little problem, then I had to figure out how to cover up the crack and the missing piece in part of the crack.

I wanted to keep it grey, so I grabbed some venetian texture powder and grey chalk based paint from Heirloom Traditions Paint, all which I happen to have on hand.

I added about 1 teaspoon of powder to roughly 3 tablespoons of paint….I mixed that up and using a brush I applied a thin coat right onto the lamp.  The venetian texture powder thickens the paint in a way that it covered the crack and I could use it to fill in the small hole.

To finish it off I used a tan colored liquid wax called Muddy Pond.

Here it is in it’s new home!  Now don’t pay attention to the unfinished buffet!

It is on the “to-do” list…don’t hate..LOL!!!

Again, the lamp looks great…the buffet? maybe not so much.:)

I love a good deal!  How about you??  And I’m telling ya…don’t be afraid to buy something that’s broken, especially if the price is right!

You truly can fix up just about any boo-boo.

All three of the products I used can be found at Heirloom Traditions Paint
